Shattered Horizon
By Von Lazuli
Worklog: Here
We have yet more sexy renders on show with Von Lazuli's scratch build called Shattered Horizon which seems to have similar dimensions (although probably none of the quirks) of Silverstone's
Raven RV02B case with a long body.
However we'd probably argue that Shattered Horizon, at least the renders of it, look a bit nicer!. What's more is that the project will apparently include an absolutely enormous radiator. Think your quad 120mm rad is big? You haven't seen anything yet!
In fact the radiator is so big that the case is essentially being built around it which is why Shattered Horizon's early renders have it being so long.
The length of the case should mean there's plenty of room for water cooling gear too - just look at the gap between the motherboard and the 5.25in bays. We can even see a little Eheim 1250 pump in the render too and this has already arrived waiting to be installed. They certainly had more character than today's piddly DDCs!
The case frame is made up of several lengths of aluminium cut to shape. Above we can see that huge radiator sitting there just waiting to cool something. At 680mm long it's much longer even than HWLabs' Black Ice GT Xtreme 560 which is the biggest radiator we know. Cooling, hopefully should not be a problem.
Above we can see the case coming together nicely with some mid section panels installed fairly similarly to the early renders. On the right is that beefy radiator sitting menacingly on top of the case in roughly its final position.
In some of the latest updates to Shattered Horizon, Von Lazuli has made a custom hard drive cage and the case has also received its housing which appears to be a single piece of acrylic bent to shape to fit round the frame.
If you'd like to vote for Von Lazuli's giant radiator wielding Shattered Horizon head over to
our forum.
That's all for this month, we wish all of our contenders the very best of luck!
